Quick start

  • Install and activate the Sternenherz Extension in Bitwig.
  • Use the recommended Bitwig project setup for the selected profile.
  • Load Sternenherz Looper as Standalone, VST3 or CLAP.

What is Sternenherz Looper?

Sternenherz Looper is a control surface for Bitwig 6, enabling you to record audio-overdubs just like with a Loopstation! It comes in different sizes – see Feature comparison above.

The bigger the Version, the more features are included. While the One Looper lets you record up to five overdubs inside one Looper, the Triple Looper lets you record 15 overdubs inside three Loopers. Also, the Triple Looper offers an experimental “First recording sets project Tempo” workflow 🙂 The biggest Interface called “Sternenherz UI” not only includes the Triple Looper, but all my personal workflow-needs, like custom widgets for Input/Output-FX Assignments, many Bitwig-Shortcut-Buttons, Device-Control, Project-Remote-Control, and much more.

Does it work without Bitwig 6?

The current workflow is designed around Bitwig 6 and the Sternenherz Extension. The standalone/plugin can launch independently, but the full Looper control workflow expects the Bitwig project and extension setup described in the manual.

Which systems and formats are supported?

Requires Bitwig 6! The supported operating systems include Windows 11 (Windows 10 should work, too, but it hasn’t been tested), MAC OS (tested only with Tahoe, M-Chip required), and Linux (tested only with Ubuntu!). The formats for Win and MAC include VST3/CLAP/Standalone, and for Linux CLAP and Standalone.

Why is the Bitwig project structure important?

The Looper expects its Looper groups and input/monitor tracks on specific tracks. The recommended project template keeps routing, monitoring and Looper behavior predictable during live playback.
